The Planets

The task for this project was to create four interactive touch screens, similar to those you might see in a museum exhibit or a mall directory. The screens included a home/start screen and three additional screens of your choice, such as ones featuring interesting facts, information, or trivia. To demonstrate how users would navigate from one screen to another and how each screen would function, one element from the home/start screen (like a planet) was selected. The content on the other three screens was then tailored to that element, and the flow was prototyped.

Having worked on several animal-themed projects, I wanted to explore something new to add variety to my portfolio. After browsing Freepik for inspiration and exploring NASA’s website, I decided to focus on the planets. The graphics and images I found on Freepik were a perfect fit for the topic, and I gathered additional inspiration and information for each screen from NASA’s website, as well as a few other sources. To enhance the user experience, I also added overlay instructions to three of the screens, which would appear when a title was pressed, explaining how the interface worked.

Some of the most challenging parts of the project included rewording the information to make it unique, designing the last two screens to look visually appealing and function well, and prototyping them to ensure a smooth user experience. In the end, I’m still proud of how the project turned out.
